# Set up Monitor in Chrome

> Connect your IRCC account, choose a passcode inbox, and complete your first Monitor check.

Set up Monitor once in the Chrome profile you use for IRCC. It checks your applications while Chrome is open and sends changes to the [Monitor Agent board](/knowledge-base/knowledge-base/guide/monitor-agent) in VisaFlo.

## Before you start

* [Install the VisaFlo Autofill Extension](/knowledge-base/knowledge-base/extension/installation) and pin it to Chrome's toolbar.
* Have your **GCKey username and password** ready. Monitor currently supports the IRCC account you access through GCKey.
* Have access to the email inbox that receives your GCKey passcodes. You can use a mailbox connected to VisaFlo or enter codes yourself.
* Close other IRCC and GCKey tabs in this Chrome profile before starting the first check.

## 1. Open Monitor

Select the VisaFlo icon in Chrome's toolbar and sign in to the VisaFlo account you use for your cases. Open the **Monitor** tab, then select **Next: GCKey sign-in**.

If you cannot see Monitor, check that Chrome has updated the extension, then close and reopen its popup.

## 2. Enter your GCKey sign-in

Enter the username and password you normally use for this IRCC account. Select **Next: passcodes**.

</Frame>

## 3. Choose where passcodes arrive

Select the connected VisaFlo mailbox that receives your GCKey codes. Monitor can retrieve the code from that inbox when IRCC asks for it.

Prefer to enter it yourself? Choose **I’ll type them myself**. If the right mailbox is missing, connect it in **VisaFlo → Settings → Email** or use manual entry. If the list could not load, select **Retry**.

Select **Next: check time** when you are ready.

</Frame>

## 4. Set a daily time and start

Choose a daily check time when this computer and Chrome are usually running. The time uses this computer's local time zone.

Select **Save and run the first check**. Monitor opens the IRCC sign-in flow and shows its progress. You can close the popup; reopen Monitor if it needs an answer from you.

<Frame caption="Choose the daily time, then start the first check immediately.">

</Frame>

## 5. Answer any sign-in questions

IRCC may ask for a passcode or a security answer during the check:

* **Passcode:** Monitor uses your selected inbox, or asks you to enter the code. Type the full code exactly as it appears, including letters.
* **Security question:** Read the question shown in Monitor, enter your answer and select **Send answer**. You do not need to enter every question during setup. Monitor remembers answers that IRCC accepts.
* **A step in the IRCC window:** Follow Monitor's on-screen instruction and complete that step in the window it opened.

<Frame caption="Answer the question IRCC is asking now. Accepted answers are remembered for later checks.">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/visa-flo/zaGS0ih7VC_6eeEd/knowledge-base/images/docs-captures/monitor-agent/security-question.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=zaGS0ih7VC_6eeEd&q=85&s=b13416b1f669481d7350c0f27ff38b9b" alt="Monitor asking an example security question with a Your answer field and Send answer button." style={{ maxWidth: "448px", width: "100%", margin: "0 auto" }} width="448" height="600" data-path="knowledge-base/images/docs-captures/monitor-agent/security-question.png" />
</Frame>

## 6. Review your first result

The first result shows how many applications Monitor is following and how many matched a VisaFlo case. Select the VisaFlo link to review the full list or link applications that need a case.

<Frame caption="The first check establishes a starting point. Future checks highlight changes.">
  <img src="https://mintcdn.com/visa-flo/zaGS0ih7VC_6eeEd/knowledge-base/images/docs-captures/monitor-agent/first-check.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=zaGS0ih7VC_6eeEd&q=85&s=2790a2f707b860871c6607764f751ff8" alt="First-check summary showing two followed applications, one linked case and one application to link in VisaFlo." style={{ maxWidth: "448px", width: "100%", margin: "0 auto" }} width="448" height="602" data-path="knowledge-base/images/docs-captures/monitor-agent/first-check.png" />
</Frame>

Continue with [Review changes in Monitor Agent](/knowledge-base/knowledge-base/guide/monitor-agent).

## Everyday use

| What you want to do | Where to go |
| - | - |
| Get a fresh result | Select **Check now** in the extension. |
| Browse every followed application | Open **All applications** in Monitor Agent. |
| Read a new letter | Follow **Review changes in VisaFlo**, then open the letter in **Needs you**. |
| Open the government account | Select **Open IRCC account**. If a fresh sign-in is needed, select **Sign in and open**. |
| Change your inbox, daily time or sign-in | Open **Monitor settings** using the icon beside the status line. |
| Update a remembered answer | In Monitor settings, find **Security questions** and select **Manage**. |
| Stop checks and remove this setup | In Monitor settings, select **Remove this GCKey account** and confirm. Existing VisaFlo notes and files stay on their cases. |

Chrome must stay open for scheduled checks. Monitor checks hourly while your IRCC session is active and runs a full check at your saved daily time. Another computer or Chrome profile needs its own setup.

## When Monitor needs your help

| What you see | What to do |
| - | - |
| Waiting for an IRCC tab | Finish what you are doing in IRCC, then close that tab. Monitor can check again after the tab closes. |
| Waiting for a passcode | Confirm you chose the inbox that receives GCKey codes. If Monitor offers manual entry, enter the latest code. |
| A security question | Answer the question shown. If the check paused after an unanswered question, select **Check now** and answer it during the new check. |
| A sign-in or security pause | Read the reason, correct the sign-in details if needed, then select **Check now**. Follow any recovery link shown by Monitor. |
| A different account is already signed in | Sign out of IRCC in Chrome, then run **Check now** with the account you configured. |
| A sync failure | Check your connection and VisaFlo sign-in, then select **Check and send again**. The last successful result stays available. |
| No recent check on the board | Open Chrome on the computer with Monitor configured, then run **Check now** in the extension. |

If you still cannot complete a check, [contact support](/knowledge-base/knowledge-base/faq/how-to-report-a-visaflo-bug-or-unresolved-support-issue) with the message shown and the time of the check.
